It is on the sandy beaches of Bloubergstrand from where the familiar panorama photographs of Table Mountain above Cape Town, with the beach and ocean in the foreground, are taken. Bloubergstrand offers top angling spots as well as surfing, wind and kite surfing, whale watching (July to September) and year-round dolphin watching.  With Cape Town only 20km away, Blouberg Beach is a popular holiday destination in South Africa with one of the "most beautiful sea views in the world" as the view towards Table Mountain has been described.

            

Blouberg is the little village of Bloubergstrand and sports a wide variety of restaurants, shops and all modern amenities while Bloubergrant is an expanding suburb in the Blaauwberg region and situated only a short distance away from the Blouberg Beach with its long, wide, sandy beaches and excellent views of Table Mountain in Cape Town as well as Robben Island.
